Exceptional all original early Victorian walnut sewing caddy and thread dispenser that rotates smoothly on a rotating lazy Susan type mechanism. This piece measures 9″ high to the top of the finial on the removable lid of this unique piece. The overall size is 8 1/2″ diameter with the base being 5″ diameter. There are twelve different spools of thread that one can have access to when you thread them through the dispensing holes. Note that on the underside of the stand it is inscribed in two places, ‘Pat’d Nov. 12, 1887’. The collector who had this piece has kept with it over the years a newspaper article where they first saw this piece. What a fun piece of information to still have with this item. This is a remarkable Victorian sewing notion, and you will not want to miss adding this piece to your sewing notion collection.
