Antique all original cast iron Hen on the Nest cast iron still penny bank that measures 3″ high and on the base is 3 1/2″ long by 2 1/2″ wide. This bank dates to the early 1900’s and was made by Ober. The Ober Manufacturing Company was originally founded in Newbury, Ohio in 1862 and later moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1873. This company is known for producing cast-iron toy banks, which were made from approximately 1912 to 1916. This is a harder bank to find for your collection. In the middle ages a hen sitting on the nest was a symbol of wealth. This bank can be found with the coin slot on either the top or the bottom as this bank features. You can reference this bank in the coin bank antique reference book, ‘The Penny Bank Book – Collecting Still Banks’ by Andy & Susan Moore, on page 88. We are excited to be able to have this item for sale.
