Antique soapstone carved figurine of a perched rooster on top of a four-legged pedestal stand. This piece measures 6 1/2 high is 4″ wide by 3 1/2″ deep. Soapstone is an attractive-looking metamorphic rock made largely of talc and has long been used for both practical and decorative purposes. Soapstone can be carved into a wide range of objects, from pots and pans to statues and ornaments to vases and jewelry boxes. This rooster was a part of a soapstone collection that came from out of New York.
