Antique Bronze Sculpture of a Sailor with Rifle in Hands – Artist A. Croisy (1840 -1899}

This bronze features a sailor on guard with rifle ready in his hands and this piece was made by and signed by ‘A. Croisy’. Onésime-Aristide Croisy (31 March 1840 – 7 November 1899) was a French sculptor. He is known for his dramatic bronze military statues. This sailor bronze measures 7 1/2″ wide by 5 1/2″ deep and stands 13″ high. Note on the backside of this bronze on the lower left it reads, ‘Copyright By Susse Frls – J’. Susse Frères, a renowned French bronze foundry active from the 19th century onwards.
